Both front skirt panels are on, and the casing is sewn up.

The green underdress that peeks through the collar is only faked, as I'm using stash fabrics. So, to jazz it up a bit, I decided to add a line of trim along the join line, like on the sleeves.

As we can see, clipping a curved seam does make a difference. Before:

The stretch velvet I purchased is 60" wide, so I held it up to the waist and marked both hem height and two inches for seam allowances, then cut. Then I folded it in quarters, and cut that into three pieces: back, and left and right front. All are rectangles.

As a basis for the bodice pattern, I used two pieces from Simplicity 9891. To be precise, I used the back pieces, removing the center back seam in the process.

I had used these two pieces before and been happy with the results. The curve of the princess seam hit approximately the right place, but curved back to create a rectangular stomacher piece.
